The Maison Beaucor Story

Founded in 2010, carried by a tradition far older than the brand itself.

Created in the Comoros by Karima Jaffar, Maison Beaucor brings the ancestral beauty rituals of Comorian women back to life, passed down from generation to generation in Anjouan. Inspired by the traditions of her grandmother, Karima transforms this heritage into natural skincare that combines ancestral know-how, authenticity and innovation. Among them, Msindzanu, the brand’s emblematic sandalwood mask, reflects this commitment to preserving and reimagining a beauty heritage that is deeply Comorian.

More than a cosmetics brand, Maison Beaucor has a mission: to celebrate every skin tone, encourage self-acceptance, and share the richness of Comorian heritage with the world.

A Ritual Older Than The Brand

Long before Maison Beaucor existed, the msindzanu did.

On the island of Anjouan, this traditional paste made from sandalwood and coral stone has been passed from mother to daughter for generations. More than a beauty ritual, Msindzanu accompanies the major stages in the lives of Comorian women. Young girls are introduced to it at the Ponzo, a symbolic rite marking their passage into adulthood. A bride-to-be wears Msindzanu for around three months, until her wedding day. After giving birth, new mothers are traditionally cared for with Msindzanu rituals for forty days.

Weddings call for the fullest expression of this ancestral ritual. During the forty days leading up to her wedding, the bride-to-be devotes herself fully to traditional body treatments. Each day, she receives massages with dried jasmine flowers blended with coconut milk, followed by an aromatic steam bath designed to purify, revitalise and enhance her skin.

It is from this heritage that Maison Beaucor draws its inspiration.

Our products are not simply born from formulas created in a laboratory. Their origins lie in gestures, know-how and rituals passed down from generation to generation and still practised today in Anjouan.

The Founder - Karima Jaffar

She fell in love with the rituals of beauty.

Karima Jaffar - known to those close to her as Karida - grew up in the Comoros, where she first fell in love with the rituals of beauty and wellbeing passed down by her grandmother, originally from Anjouan. Those childhood gestures - sandalwood and jasmine powders prepared by hand, khôl carefully applied - would later become the foundation of everything she built.

At twenty, she left home to study in Cairo, qualifying as an esthetician in 2001. When she returned to the Comoros, she carried both worlds with her: modern technique, and inherited tradition.

In 2010, that combination became Institut Beaucor - the first organic beauty salon in the Comoros. It was the beginning of a lifelong project: to give Comorian beauty rituals the recognition, the quality, and the platform they deserved.

Today, Karima is a mother of four and continues to run Maison Beaucor herself - training the next generation of Comorian women in esthetics while shaping the brand's international growth.

From Salon to Brand

Riddah organic skincare range was born.

In 2021, more than a decade after opening her salon, Karima translated her institute's know-how into a product line: Ridaah - the certified organic skincare range that would become Maison Beaucor as it's known today. That same year, the brand's products earned organic certification from CCPB, the first formal recognition of what Karima had been doing by hand for years.

The brand began to make real strides - especially with msindzanu, the brand's flagship product, which quickly became the clear favourite among customers. But the growth was never only commercial. Maison Beaucor works directly with producers in Anjouan for its raw materials, and trains Comorian women in esthetics and artisanal skills to build their own economic independence.

Maison Beaucor is proud to represent the Comoros on the international stage - from Cosmetic 360 to the Natural Hair Academy in Europe to the IFTM Top Resa travel trade show in Paris.

Already reaching customers across the Comorian diaspora in France and beyond, the brand is now looking outward - across Africa, towards Europe and international markets further afield.

A Movement Against Skin Bleaching

Behind every Maison Beaucor product lies a conviction that runs deeper than skincare.

In the Comoros, voluntary skin bleaching remains a major issue. Karima has witnessed the pressure placed on women to change their skin tone, and the impact this can have on self-image and self-esteem.

This reality played a profound role in her decision to create Maison Beaucor.

Our response is a commitment: to care for the skin without seeking to change it. Our skincare is designed to nourish, protect, enhance and reveal the natural radiance of every skin tone.

Because we believe that every skin tone is beautiful and deserves to be celebrated, never corrected.

Because caring for yourself also means loving yourself, accepting yourself and taking pride in your heritage.

It's more than a brand philosophy. For Maison Beaucor, it's the whole point.

Love Yourself. Accept Yourself. Shine.
